What is your guess? How old is this writer?
The answer: 9 years old!
This is because at 8, 9, 10 years old, we haven’t been alive long enough to have been taught how to talk about the world.
The authenticity and rawness of this childlike writing is conditioned out of us as we grow up. As we get older, we start to express in safe and predictable ways.
Getting back to this level of creativity is one example of how I help aspiring writers to reconnect with their ability to express by avoiding familiar language constellations (clichés) and increase their ability to explore, write, and own their emotions, memories, and identity using fresh and unique descriptions.
